Godly Men: 5 Struggles They Will Not Admit To

Godly Men: 5 Struggles They Will Not Admit To

Godly men struggle.  Being a godly man in the midst of a wicked and perverse world of sin is not an easy task.  This is not a cure all list of issues as everyone’s relationship with Christ is completely different, that is why it is called a “personal” relationship.  If we called upon the name of the Lord to be saved our attitude toward these five things should be intentional.  It won’t be perfect by all means as life happens. But we as men of God should be striving to be more Christ like today than we were yesterday and more Christ like tomorrow than we were today! I pray that every man that reads this post is encouraged, edified and challenged in their faith to become the godly man we are called to be in our homes, our workplaces and our communities.

1. Godly Men Struggle in the Word!

Most men do not like to read.  They feel it is boring and can’t hold their attention.  When it comes to the Word of God it is very sporadic and the hit and miss of daily spiritual food leaves men spiritually dying of hunger.  Our spiritual nutrition is vital to our walk, word and worship.  I will notice my own attitude going sour and starting to get short when I am lacking on my daily devotions.  There are other times where we are in the Word, but we only sip on the milk and refuse cut in to a hunk of nice juicy steak!  Without spiritual nutrition we will lack spiritual growth! To be a godly man you need growth! The Bible commands us to study in 2 Timothy 2:15. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2. Godly Men Struggle in prayer!

Prayer as a godly man is so very important.  When we read through God’s Word, we see that our responsibility as a man is huge. We are responsible for everything! That alone should drive us to our knees in prayer to almighty God to seek direction and guidance. Prayer is not an option it is a command as it says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18. Pray without ceasing. (18) In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. To be a godly man you need prayer!

3. Godly Men Struggle in obedience!

Every moment of our lives we have to make a choice.  Sometimes we make choices out of obedience and others we make a choice for selfish reasons and through disobedience. We need to be on constant guard for this.  If we make a disobedient choice our prayers we discussed about in the previous point will never be heard!  It says that in Psalm 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: The Bible also says in 1 Samuel 15:23, For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. To be a godly man you need obedience without compromise.  When we fall short, then we need to repent and confess so we can get back on track with our relationships!

4. Godly Men Struggle in faith!

There are many times we as men struggle in our faith.  We question whether or not we are truly born-again. The Bible says in Romans 10:17, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Faith is not a feeling. The most common statement from Christian’s who struggle with their faith say, “I don’t feel saved.”  Feelings come and go.  Faith comes by hearing the Word of God and believing it to be true and without question! Some say, “There is no way I am saved, because I sin more than I did before!”  You should praise the Lord on that one!  Why do I say this?  Because that is absolute truth that you are a born-again believer of the Lord Jesus Christ!  The Holy Spirit is inside you telling you what needs to be changed! There are times in our walk as as Christian men where we question our salvation.  It is ok, ask God to reveal Himself to you and He will! As godly men we need to strive to be more like Christ by changing those things in our lives that are not pleasing to Him! Not to “keep” our salvation.  Our Salvation is permanent until the day of redemption! We may mess up at times but it does not cause us to lose our salvation. We cannot become disowned by our physical father.  Even when he is dead, he is still our father!  When we sin, it just causes our personal relationship with Christ to be messed up and Christ will punish us as His child when we mess up!

5. Godly Men Struggle in leading!

Our families or even our future families need leaders, not dictators.  They need spiritual leaders willing to lead in prayer, in bible study and teachings, they need someone that seeks God’s face in a decision that needs to be made! Regardless of where we are at right now we just need to man up and start leading right now. Wives need men to be godly men and son’s and daughters need men to be godly fathers! The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. (14) Let all your things be done with charity.

I hope and pray that these 5 things will help you as men to grow and to understand that you are not alone in the struggle.  If you are struggling and need someone to talk to.  Someone to hear your.  Someone to pray with you. I am here and available.  You can either contact me via Facebook or via email at [email protected].
