Christian’s first! There are three verses in the entire Bible that mentions the word Christian or Christians. We are going to focus on one verse and I am going to explain why this is so important and why you should take it serious. The history of the word Christian depends on your walk, your word and your worship!
Christian’s FIRST in Antioch
We read in the book of Acts:
Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
Antioch, Syria is important because the word Christian started in Antioch! The disciples were called Christian’s FIRST in Antioch! Christian was used as a derogatory name towards followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. It means “little Christ”. The disciples would be ridiculed and people would say, “Look at those little Christs.”
Antioch is important
Antioch, Syria is important because Antioch birthed the Textus Receptus. Why is that so important? The Textus Receptus is the same manuscript we get the King James Bible. The rest of the Bibles out there, including the New King James comes from manuscripts out of Alexandria Egypt.
Egypt is important
What is so important about Alexandria, Egypt? Egypt represents the world in the Bible. In fact God says nothing good about Egypt in the Bible and tells Jeremiah to not even purchase from Egypt. Every mention of Egypt has bad consequences.
Don’t go to Egypt
Jeremiah 42:19 The LORD hath said concerning you, O ye remnant of Judah; Go ye not into Egypt: know certainly that I have admonished you this day.
Egypt doctrinally is a picture of the world! If Egypt is a picture of the world and there are bibles that were born out of Egypt then those bibles are corrupt. We will get into this more a future post about the importance of using the right Bible.
It was Christian’s FIRST in Antioch and you can easily say the Bible FIRST in Antioch!
