Mother: Law, Love and Teacher

The word mother in the Bible pops up in 292 verse and 320 times.  The first mention of mother is in Genesis 2:24. It is interesting to note that this verse mentions mother when the man leaves and cleaves to his wife!  This mother was with their son his entire life.  She invested in him, took care of him.

Eve was the mother of ALL!

In Genesis 3:20 Adam named his wife Eve because she was the mother of all living!  Eve means living or enliving.  Eve loved her son!  Genesis 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.  Eve was excited she had given birth to a baby boy!  The mother has the responsibility of carrying a baby for 9 months.  That baby is closer to the mother than the father.  The baby is one with mom.  When the baby is born into this world the mother loves the baby, she nourishes and cherishes the baby.  Mom changes the baby’s diapers, feeds the baby, and burps the baby.  As the baby grows, mom kisses the baby’s boo boo’s.  Mom guides and directs as the child grows, she makes them breakfast lunch and dinner, attends school functions and sports activities, is there on their first heartbreak, their first marriage and their first child.

The mother lays down the law!

Proverbs 1:8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

The mother loves a righteous and wise child!

Proverbs 23:24-25 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.  (25)  Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

The mother teaches!

Proverbs 31:1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.

To all the mothers out there, you are more important than you every know.  Thank you for caring.  Thank you for loving.  Thank you for being a mother!
